“But my life is worth nothing to me unless I use it for finishing the work assigned me by the Lord Jesus—the work of telling others the Good News about the wonderful grace of God.” - Acts 20:24 (NLT)
We’re born with purpose. Each purpose is unique and specific to each person, but we’re all born to achieve certain accomplishments and to do the work that God wants us to do. We may have our own plan for our lives, but God’s plan trumps ours.
Sometimes it’s difficult to discover exactly what we’re supposed to do in our lives. Step one to understanding your purpose is to unveil the special gift that lies within you. This gift is innate and effortless. It can be an artistic or creative craft, it can be that you have a natural talent to uplift and help others or it can be that you’re born to lead. If you’re having trouble figuring out what your gift is, ask that He displays it to you. Step two is to learn yourself. Go deep within you and figure out what it is that you’re able to do so naturally. Trust in Him and trust in yourself as you hone in on your God-given ability.
It’s how you use your gift that matters most. We have to fulfill God’s intentions for our lives, and follow the path that He desires for us to venture. Nothing but good things come out of taking heed to God’s command and to His will. Thank Him for your gift, and then, ask Him to show you how to use it in the way that He wants you to use it. It’s then that you see His power and ability to guide you to high places in life, as well as your power and ability to be a great asset to this world.
You can’t run from your purpose because it’s destined to catch you. You may have another road that you wish to take, but God has a bigger vision for your life. Embrace your assignment. Claim it; after all, it is yours. It belongs to no one else but you. If He gave it to you, no one can take it away.
