Strength Masked As Weakness

By Amanda Usher

“…So to keep me from becoming proud, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger from Satan to torment me and keep me from becoming proud. Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. Each time he said, ‘My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.’ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.”

2 Cor 12:7-10 (NLT)

Though they can be exhausting and mind -blowing, be thankful for your struggles. Be thankful that God sees fit to go through the storm with you, and be thankful that the magnitude of your strength is revealed.

When you’re in the midst of a storm, your eyes open and you see just how magnificent God’s power truly is. His love for you is exposed as He gets you through those troubling days. He will never let you go through a battle alone for He will always be with you. You may think that your storm is so big that it may swallow you, but God will be there to keep you from being destroyed. You can’t see Him, but you can definitely feel His grace and power.

When you’re weak and fragile, genuine strength is born. Every hardship teaches you a lesson, and every hardship builds you. Your backbone becomes stronger with every piece of adversity that you encounter and endure. Don’t run from it, but instead, embrace it. Never be ashamed of what you have gone through. Be proud that you were strong enough to make it out.

Always thank God for the thorn that’s inside of your flesh.
